situation: you make a bunch of edits to your wc and then realize that your work will either a) take longer than you expected and/or b) be more complicated than planned and likely break some stuff initially the best practice is: 1. make local mods 2. "damn, this should be on a branch" 3. svn cp trunkURL branchURL 4. svn switch branchURL 5. svn commit sussman, I thought branches only contained deltas between the trunk and the branch, hence saving space. in general, it's just a Bad Idea to create branches via 'svn copy wc URL'
